Activities Over October: A Busy Month at Mistley Manor
27 October 2026

October has been packed with activities at Mistley Manor! From bingo and creative arts to quizzes, church visits and wonderful live music from Moss Due, residents have enjoyed a fantastic variety of events.
October has certainly been a busy month here at Mistley Manor, with plenty of activities, entertainment and opportunities for residents to get together and enjoy themselves!
From arts and crafts and lively quiz afternoons to live music and trips into the local community, there has been something for everyone.
With so much going on, we couldn't possibly fit everything into one blog post, but here are just a few of our highlights from October.
Bingo, Chocolates and a Little Friendly Competition!
Bingo continues to be a firm favourite with our residents, and this month we had another fantastic turnout!
There was plenty of friendly competition, lots of laughter and, of course, chocolates for the lucky winners.
We also enjoyed a True or False Quiz on a Sunday afternoon following bingo, giving everyone another chance to put their knowledge to the test.
It's always lovely to see residents getting involved, sharing a laugh and enjoying a little friendly rivalry!
Getting Creative with Autumn Arts and Crafts
With the colder weather arriving and the leaves beginning to change colour, our activities team organised some lovely autumn-inspired craft sessions.
Residents enjoyed making leaf art, using the changing season as inspiration for their creations.
We also had a go at air-dry clay modelling, giving everyone the opportunity to get hands-on and create something a little different.
Another popular activity was our creative painting session, where each resident chose their own picture to paint. It was wonderful to see everyone's individual choices and creativity coming through.
These sessions are not just about the finished artwork. They provide opportunities for residents to relax, express themselves, chat with one another and enjoy trying something new.
A Visit to Mistley Church
October also included a Sunday church service at Mistley Church.
For residents who enjoy attending church, maintaining these familiar routines and connections with the local community can be an important part of everyday life.
It was a lovely opportunity to spend some time together outside the home and enjoy a Sunday service in familiar surroundings.
Fantastic Live Music from Moss Due!
One of the highlights of the month was a visit from Moss Due, a talented husband-and-wife musical duo who treated us to some wonderful live entertainment.
What incredible voices!
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and it was fantastic to have live music filling the home.
Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, encouraging conversation and creating a lovely atmosphere.
A huge thank you to Moss Due for such an enjoyable performance. You are more than welcome to come back and entertain us again!
Getting Ready for Halloween!
As October drew towards its end, our arts and crafts sessions took on a slightly spookier theme!
Residents enjoyed paper pumpkin making, alongside other Halloween-inspired crafts and decorations.
It was a lovely way to get into the spirit of the season, with plenty of creativity and conversation along the way.
We always enjoy marking seasonal occasions at Mistley Manor, and Halloween provides another great excuse to get creative and have some fun.
There's Always Something Happening at Mistley Manor
These are just a handful of the activities our residents have enjoyed throughout October.
There have been many more activities, games, social gatherings and opportunities to get involved than we could possibly squeeze into one post!
At Stour Valley Care Group, we believe that life in a care home should be about much more than receiving care.
Our aim is to provide a genuine Home from Home, where residents can continue enjoying their interests, try new experiences, maintain connections with the community and, most importantly, have fun.
Whether someone enjoys a lively quiz, an afternoon of painting, a church service or simply sitting down for a chat, we want everyone to have opportunities to spend their time in ways that matter to them.
